The California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) is a statewide disability organization that administers programs and serves as a membership association connecting California’s Independent Living Network. Position Overview
Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the AT State Leadership Access Program Coordinator supports Ability Tools, California’s Assistive Technology Act Program. The Coordinator increases awareness of assistive technology, organizes training and outreach, supports program partners, and helps ensure that program activities and data are accurate, timely, and responsive to the disability community.
Essential Responsibilities
- Coordinate outreach, training, and public awareness activities that increase understanding and use of assistive technology and Ability Tools services.
- Plan and facilitate AT Advocate meetings, trainings, and other learning opportunities for program partners and community members.
- Contribute to the annual Ability Tools implementation plan and support completion of program deliverables.
- Recruit presenters and trainers; identify accessible venues; and coordinate accessibility services and other event logistics.
- Develop educational and outreach content for blogs, newsletters, video updates, the Ability Tools website, and social media in coordination with communications staff.
- Provide technical assistance, onboarding support, and resource information to Independent Living Centers, Device Lending and Demonstration Centers, other partner organizations, and members of the public.
- Build and maintain relationships with assistive technology vendors, public agencies, disability organizations, and community partners to strengthen and expand the AT Network.
- Maintain current program and partner contact information and notify program management and communications staff of relevant changes.
- Promote accurate and timely use of the National Assistive Technology Act Data System (NATADS), track program activities and materials, review data for completeness, and report trends or concerns to program management.
- Provide regular progress updates during Ability Tools team meetings and collaborate with staff across CFILC programs.
- Represent CFILC and Ability Tools at meetings, conferences, trainings, and community events.
- Serve as a trained backup for information and assistance functions, including responding to inquiries from consumers and agencies and connecting them with appropriate resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonably related to the position and CFILCs operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
An associate degree and two years of relevant experience, or four years of relevant experience in assistive technology, disability services, program coordination, community outreach, training, or a related field in place of the degree.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, research, and presentation skills.
- Experience facilitating meetings or trainings and working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience using Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom, or comparable workplace technology.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, enter and review data, and prepare routine progress updates.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and information access, or the ability to learn these areas quickly.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including people whose perspectives and experiences are often underrepresented.
- Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Personal or professional experience with disability.
- Knowledge of disability rights and the Independent Living philosophy.
- Experience working with Independent Living Centers, assistive technology programs, or community-based organizations.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.

Work Environment and Accommodations
