Advocating in our world is what we do. Before we can organize in our community, we must become organized ourselves. The members of CFILC collaborate together to help put on a number of trainings and events throughout the year. Our trainings are informative and empowering, and our events can be fun and make a direct impact to those around us.

Smart AT Home: Installation, will be on September 28th at 2:30pm PT, presented by Drew Redepenning from LiveLife Therapy Solutions Inc. It will continue to build on the foundation established with our first installment, Smart AT Home: Accessibility 101, and will guide participants through the installation process, non-wi-fi-dependent device options, the “Internet of Things” and the process of creating your home network. This series will occur every other month and will always be free and available to professionals and the general public alike

The intersections between disability and aging continue to remind us that we must create a system that brings together the aging and disability community.

Join us on October 5th from 1:30p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (PDT).

Bring your ideas and suggestions to the town hall discussion. What should a Hubs and Spokes No Wrong Door System look like in your community? How do we build better and inclusive programs? Where is change needed and not needed?

We are honored to welcome Eric Harris: Director of Public Policy at Disability Rights California (DRC).

Eric Harris has significant political, federal, and state policy experience, having worked for Congresswoman Barbara Lee, the Democratic National Committee, and the NAACP of California. Throughout his career, Eric has worked closely with disability leaders, community members, and elected officials throughout the country to bring positive change for the disability community.

The next installment in Ability Tools' Smart AT Home series, Smart AT Home: Financing, will occur on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2:30-3:30pm PDT. This installment will cover different options people have when trying to acquire smart home technology. Ability Tools plans to expand into many disability related topics such as, programming your smart home hub to interact properly with your AAC devices, customization and environmental controls.
