Kathrine is the Ability Tools Program Manager for CFILC. Her role is to raise public awareness about access to Assistive Technology (AT) and provide technical assistance and training to Independent Living Centers and community members to improve programs and ultimately outcomes for our consumers who use AT.

Susan is the Assistive Technology (AT) Coordinator at Independent Living Center of Kern County (ILCKC). Susan has a deep understanding in negotiating the web of life through the many paths journeyed upon in teaching and advocating for the needs of others, as well as her own family members who have “diversified abilities”.

Michael Galvan, Ph.D, is the Executive Director at Community Resources for Independent Living (CRIL). In his 11 years at CRIL, Michael has done Housing Search Services, Assistive Technology and was CRIL’s Program Director.  In his free time, Michael enjoys time with his family, reading, jigsaw puzzles and his chihuahua mix, Raul.

Dan Okenfuss is CFILC’s Public Policy Manager. Based in Sacramento, Dan’s role is to ensure CFILC’s voice is heard in the halls of the State Capitol. Dan has an exciting career in public service and was honored to have worked for many distinguished legislators, including current Assembly Member Tim Grayson.

Mike is a lifelong Californian. His family farmed the Golden State’s rich soils for decades and he was raised by two incredibly strong women, his mom and grandma. Mike was named Senate Majority Leader in 2022. He’s been a champion for our kids and public schools. And no one has been more successful at securing resources to combat homelessness and build affordable housing in rural California.

Workshop Panelist for:  “Meeting AT Needs During Climate Disaster Responses”

Shaylin Sluzalis (she/her) and Germán Parodi (he/him) are the Co-Executive Directors of The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies – the only national disability-led organization with a focused mission on equity for people with disabilities and people with access and functional needs throughout all planning, programs, services and procedures before, during and after disasters and emergencies. The pair are confident that together, and with the unity of the disability community, we can change the world to be equally accessible for all.

Forrest Holleman

Workshop Panelist for:  “Smart AT: Smart for Your Needs and Smart for the Environment”

Forrest Holleman is a smart home expert from Bay Area Smart Homes. Forrest is a serial entrepreneur, business coach, and innovator who firmly believes that technology can change lives for the better. Forrest has been involved in home automation since the mid-90s. Forrest presented at Ability Tools “Smart AT Home” series in January where he discussed the process of process of setting up smart home routines and scenes.

Workshop Panelist for: “Accessible Farming: It Can Be Done!”

Heidi Cartan received her MSW from UC Berkeley after working with Judy Heumann and Ed Roberts at the World Institute on Disability in the late 1980s. After serving as the first IHSS Public Authority Director for Santa Clara County, Heidi helped found the California IHSS Consumer Alliance. In 2015, Heidi and her husband founded Coastal Haven pocket neighborhood and the adjacent Common Roots Farm, a 3 acre production farm near downtown Santa Cruz.

Vincent Lopez is the Assistive Technology Coordinator for the Center for Independence for Individuals with Disabilities (CID) San Mateo. Vincent comes from a technical and customer service background starting as a bicycle mechanic from the age of 15. Vincent enjoys learning how things work and finding ways to make the items “better” by thinking “outside of the box” for solutions.

Workshop Panelist for: “Making Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes” (Hands-On Workshop)”

Dr. Therese Willkomm, PhD, is the Director of New Hampshire’s State Assistive Technology Program with the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). She is known nationally and internationally for her innovative strategies for creating solutions in minutes. She has designed and fabricated over two thousand solutions for individuals with disabilities.

Anthony Lee is a CFILC Program Coordinator who provides cross-programmatic support in Disability Disaster Access and Resources, Digital Access Project, Ability Tools, and any other areas in need since joining in November 2021. Anthony has extensive experience working in the Sacramento nonprofit sector and digital media organizing with Asian and LGBTQ.

Jessica Riestra is the Statewide Youth Organizer at CFILC. Her role is to support disabled youth (16-28) to be educated, connect with one another, and to organize for their rights to be heard. Jessica has history in organizing. Prior to CFILC, Jessica was a Regional Organizing Director for March for Our Lives in which she oversaw the West Coast Region.

Keith Lamar Williams, Assistive Technology Coordinator at The Disability Community Resource Center (DCRC) in west Los Angeles County. He is the Administrator of the Digital Bridge and Microsoft Broadband Programs. Serving the Disability Community for the past 10 years. He has worked as a Consultant at The Braille Institute, a graduate of the Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP) and help developed the Center for Assistive Technology
