Position Summary for Strategic Planning and Implementation Project Manager (MADI)

Salary: The compensation for this full-time six-month contract is $55,000.
Location: Marin County

Description: The newly formed Marin Aging and Disability Institute (MADI) is seeking a project management consultant for a six-month full-time project with the potential to transition to a permanent in-house senior leadership role after the six-month term.

This six-month project is to lead the development of an integration plan to transition the Aging Action Initiative (AAI) to become a program within MADI. The project will also entail developing a strategic plan to add a disability focus to AAI and for the initiative to evolve into the Aging and Disability Action Initiative (ADAI). The project manager will work in partnership with the strategic consulting firm, Collaborative Consulting, as well as a newly formed Integration Team and the MADI leadership team.

Information on preceding MADI strategic work by Collaborative Consulting will be supplied to prospective contractors.

About The Marin Aging and Disability Institute, LLC

In 2018, Whistlestop and the Marin Center for Independent Living joined forces to receive a gift of property and assets formerly belonging to Marinspace. To manage this transfer and future use of the space, they created a new incorporated 501(C)3 nonprofit organization, the Marin Aging and Disability Institute. MADI will be focused on sustaining and enhancing collective and collaborative solutions that meet the growing needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities in Marin County. This project is one of the first stages of MADI’s launch.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

Essential Functions
• Develop and manage a multi-organizational transition, integration, and implementation plan
• Work closely with Collaborative Consulting to acquire learning from previous strategic alignment project
• Incorporate results of key informant interviews into implementable plans
• Prepare the MADI organization for an executive leader
• Participate in a variety of planning meetings and manage pre- and post-meeting tasks

Key Deliverables
• Create and oversee the AAI Integration to MADI Plan in partnership with Collaborative Consulting
• Plan must include how AAI will integrate into MADI, focusing on areas such as identity, financing, governance, financial management and operational management
• Create and oversee the ADAI Incorporation Plan that will incorporate a disability focus into AAI (i.e., ADAI) in partnership with Collaborative Consulting
• Plan must include how a disability focus will be incorporated into AAI focusing on areas such as mission, vision, funding, programs and key stakeholders
• Transition of MADI strategic project responsibilities from Collaborative Consulting

Required Education and Experience

Qualification Requirements

Strategic Planning
• At least 3 years of strategic and business planning experience with a nonprofit, government, or for-profit organization
• Strategic visioning experience, ideally with a start-up or early-stage organization
• Experience leading multi-organizational initiatives such as strategy development and implementation planning

• At least four years of executive management experience; non-profit experience preferred
• Track record of effectively leading and scaling an advocacy and/or operations organization
• Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
• Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
• Strong marketing, public relations, grant writing and other fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and dynamic communicator with strong interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills

• Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
• Passion, idealism, integrity, positive can-do attitude, mission-driven, flexible and self-directed
• Demonstrated ability to proactively work in collaborative ways with wide range of internal partners and external partners and stakeholders

Project Management
• Significant experience creating project and implementation plans, mobilizing people and organizations to implement plans and managing the tasks of a transition
• Ability to see the big picture while also get into the details necessary to bring it forward
• Ability to meet deadlines, excellent organizational skills and proficiency at multi-tasking

• Bachelor's required and Master's preferred
• Creative thinker
• Unwavering commitment to quality and efficiency
• Passion for the MADI mission as well as health and social equity
• Position is based in Marin County, California and is not remote
