Position Summary for Bookkeeper (CFILC)

Status: This is a regular non-exempt full-time position with excellent non-profit benefits.
Hours: Full-Time
Salary: $24.00 – $28.85 hourly, depending on experience.
Location: Sacramento, CA

Description: Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the following office and bookkeeping functions: accounts receivable and payable, processing loan payments, financial statement preparation, bank deposits and bank account reconciliations, journal entries, entering payroll data. Bookkeeper will assist with processing recurring claims and billings, tracking funders, prepare and send out invoices, and performing general accounting functions.

This position may include rare travel within California. It is a regular non-exempt, full-time position based in Sacramento, California.

Must be able to work remotely and in office when necessary

Job Responsibilities/Duties

• Bookkeeping to include recording and depositing incoming cash, checks & credit cards. Recording and processing event registration, customer and donor records & invoices;
• Coordinate booking tasks and projects with other members of the accounting team;
• Accounts payable to include recording vendor invoices to correct grants in accounting software and processing payments in a timely manner. Providing weekly Accounts Payable reports;
• Accounts receivable to include online credit card transactions, registrations and membership dues, and providing reports to management weekly;
• Reviews Loan Applications, processes monthly loan statements, reconciles loan payments;
• Maintain confidential files;
• Assist with audit preparation;
• Understanding of record keeping and skills to organize and file both electronic and hard copy materials;
• Assists in providing benefit plan options to employees;
• Record & track employee hours by program & grant. Record & track volunteer hours & process stipends;
• Reconcile program timecard hours to payroll service processing;
• Processes payroll, prepares 1099s, maintains payroll service files;
• Enter and maintain database information for various programs;
• Prepare and process payroll, benefits payments, reconcile all payroll and employee benefits monthly;
• Assists employees with benefits enrollment forms, Maintains benefits files and records;
• Assist with preparing monthly budgets and financial reports;
• Coordinate administrative tasks with Operations Manager, and Financing Director;
• Enter and maintain database information for various programs;
• Provide backup support in preparing mailing and shipping requests (USPS, UPS, FedEx);
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Three - four years of experience in bookkeeping. One year of College level courses in bookkeeping/accounting may be substituted for one year work experience;
• Experience with financial reporting requirements.
