Advocating in our world is what we do. Before we can organize in our community, we must become organized ourselves. The members of CFILC collaborate together to help put on a number of trainings and events throughout the year. Our trainings are informative and empowering, and our events can be fun and make a direct impact to those around us.

In partnership with the Disability Organizing Network, the Disability Visibility Project will be organizing and hosting a series of Twitter chats for Californians with disabilities about civic participation, community organizing, and disability rights.

Join us for our first Twitter chat about current disability issues on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, 3-4 pm Pacific. We want to hear what you care about in your local community and region. We also want to learn more about statewide concerns and how everyone can become involved and informed.

Everyone is welcome to participate but please know the conversation will be focused on California issues.

Pants Up Easy helps people re-gain independence and Freedom for active wheelers. Pants Up Easy will be providing demonstrations of their latest products that help active people with mobility issues.

As assistive technology evolves, the way independent living centers service consumers has changed as well. See how the 3D printing phenomenon has affected SCIL and the way they serve consumers

V. 2:00pm - 3:00pm: AT Problem Solving Session

This is a time for us all to ask questions and brainstorm solutions together face to face.

Strength in Community: Community Organizer Summit Logo of Strength in Community: Community Organizer Summit

Attention systems change advocates and community organizers!

Join us for a 3-day summit designed to:

• Refresh and reignite passion to better serve the needs of our disability community;
• Build organizing skills, strategies and tactics;
• Increase our leadership skills through team building.Summit

Participants will be provided with:

• An energizing and accessible facility surrounded by magnificent vistas, valleys and meadows;
• Shared cabins with multiple participants;
• Meals in a spacious dining hall; Reasonable accommodations upon request.
• Accessible transportation to Grizzly Creek Ranch from the Sacramento airport, train station and CFILC office.

Prioritizing the critical elements needed by Independent Living Centers when planning for and providing services during, before and after a disaster.

Each CFILC member center will receive 1 free registration. Members are encouraged to bring additional staff members to the training. The cost per additional staff member is $60.00.

Reminder - The CFILC Fall Statewide Meeting will take place at the same location Monday and Tuesday after the training.
