Training and Events
Advocating in our world is what we do. Before we can organize in our community, we must become organized ourselves. The members of CFILC collaborate together to help put on a number of trainings and events throughout the year. Our trainings are informative and empowering, and our events can be fun and make a direct impact to those around us.

CFILC intends to become a federally-certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Certification is a designation given by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to specialized organizations that provide financial products to underserved communities and/or individuals who lack access to affordable financing. CDFIs finance opportunities that are credit-worthy but are beyond the reach of more traditional sources credit. Certified CDFIs are eligible to apply for funding through a variety of programs offered by the CDFI Fund and leverage those awards with other public and private sources. There are over 1,200 CDFIs in existence today and many across the state of California.
Designed specifically for the CFILC Board of Directors, this webinar will answer the following questions:
• What is a CDFI?
• Why should CFILC become a CDFI? How does it enhance our mission?
• What are the benefits?
• How does CFILC become a CDFI?
• What is CDFI Certification?
• How does the CDFI TA grant get CFILC closer to Certification?
• How does CDFI Certification affect the role of operations and governance?
