Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: Full-Time 37.5hrs
Location: Fresno, CA

Description: Resources for independence Central Valley is recruiting for the position of Work Readiness Independent Living Specialist (W.R.I.L.). This full-time, non-exempt position and is located in our Fresno office. Travel is required in Fresno and Madera Counties. This position includes benefits and work week hours of 37.5 hours.

RICV is one of 28 Centers for Independent Living in California. Our main office is located in Fresno with two additional locations in Visalia and Merced. Our mission is to empower independence! We encourage people with disabilities to be in control of their lives and to live more independently through a diverse range of choices and opportunities. RICV serves Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, and Tulare Counties.

Resources for Independence Central Valley provides the Core Services of information and referral, independent living skills training, assistive technology training, peer support, individual and systems advocacy, youth transition from high school to adult life, and assisting individuals with transition from nursing homes to independent living in the community.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

The W.R.I.L. Specialist is responsible for assisting persons with disabilities referred from the Regional Center to receive appropriate services, which will prepare them for competitive employment. They are responsible for supporting consumers as they identify their goals related to work, develop a work readiness independent living plan and set goals, encourage consumers as they grow towards a greater independence. This includes assessment facilitation, case staffing, grassroots advocacy, developing curriculum and activities and maintenance of required paperwork. Services will take place in the consumers home, in the community or at the RICV office. The successful candidate for this position will have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products to complete tasks and assignments, and be able to function as a key member of a team.
